What is the default address and is it important?

The default address determines how the server will respond to emails sent to your server without a proper address. As an example, if your website domain was "xyz.com" and let's say a spammer uses the usual ploy of sedning an email to webmaster@xyz.com and you haven't created an account with that name. You want to select -

Discard with error to sender (at SMTP time)

Failure Message (seen by sender):

With this selection any unaddressed or improperly addressed emails will be spit back to the party that sent it.
